A Special Place to Stay

Fermyn Woods Hall has its origins in the 14th Century but the main part of the house was built in the 17th and 18th Centuries and that sense of history has been captured perfectly by the restoration work that hosts David and Mary Laing have carried out over the past few years.

The central entrance hall with magnificent carved oak staircase gives way to the spacious living rooms furnished with mellow antiques and warmed by log fires. The bedrooms are full of character and beautifully furnished and have en suite or private bathrooms. The views from the bedrooms take in the 6 acres of stunning gardens and lakes leading up into the 350 acre historic park where Longhorn cattle and Swaledale sheep are reared organically on pastures that have remained unploughed for over 500 years.

Home sourced meat, fresh fish and seasonal vegetables are expertly prepared and cooked in one of the two magnificent kitchens at the Hall and served either in the restored Victorian kitchen or the elegant dining room.

Our guests have come from as far away as South Africa and America as well as from Europe and the UK and our Visitors' Book tells its own story...

"We cannot thank you enough for our wonderful stay with you and for making my significant birthday so special"
Richard & Jane G.

"We enjoyed very much to be at this very special place which will be in our memories for a long time, with the house, the garden and the very personal and warm hospitality"
Yvonne & Clemens von S.

"You know – this is the third time and for some reason we keep coming back! Wonderful welcome and wonderful host"
Andrew G.
